Abstract

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES


Every newborn have the right to have the hearing capacity analysis, for this the National Program for Early Detection and Attention of Hearing Loss was created. In this work, we seek to know the number of live newborn children with a hearing risk factors of the provincial Maternity “Teresita Baigorria” (San Luis), during the year 2018 and its prevalence.


MATERIAL AND METHODS


 The populations were conformed for newborns who had hearing risk factors. The data collection method was a list with the items proposed by the National Direction of maternity and childhood, processing through Excel. The numerical interpretation was by the percentage model.


RESULTS


13.18% had a hearing risk factor. The prevalence in decreasing order was a family history of hearing loss, syphilis, ototoxic drugs, mechanical ventilation, low Apgar, weight les tan 1,500 grams, toxoplasmosis, craniofacial anomalies, hyperbilirubinemia, bacterial meningitis and signs associated with syndromes that present with hearing loss.


CONCLUSIONS


13% of the neonates presented one or more of an hearing risk factors and the majority are of babies from the city of San Luis. The most prevalent antecedents were a hereditary history of hearing los and syphilis infection. When the newborn is premature, it usually has 3 to 5 risk together. The risk proposed in the Maternity (gestational age less than 37 weeks, birth weight between 1,500 grams and 2,500 grams, HIV/AIDS, uncontrolled pregnancies and addictions to harmful substances) should be studied to include them in a protocol validated by Nacional Level.
