Abstract
The voice is an important feature of gender identity; hence its alteration may have a positive impact on the quality of life of transgender people, favoring different areas such as social, professional and even personal.
In the present work, we propose a bibliographic update on different approaches used in the process of vocal feminization of transgender women.
A literature search was conducted for articles related to phonoaudiological and/or surgical intervention in voice feminization in transgender women, published between May 2016 and May 2021. 43 articles were identified, of which 13 met the inclusion criteria.
Both surgical and vocal therapy proposals for voice feminization in the studied population were described in the reviewed articles.
