THE IMPORTANCE OF TRAINING IN DELIVERING BAD NEWS DURING HEALTH SCIENCES RESIDENCY: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW
Main Article Content
Abstract
The way bad news is conveyed affects patients' outlook on the future. Communicating them proves difficult during the postgraduate training period, due to the lack of inclusion of emotional skills in the curriculum and the shortage of time for residents' training in this regard. An inappropriate way of conveying such news can generate stress, anxiety, and other negative effects on patients and healthcare professionals. Given that the Health Team Residency System aims to train highly skilled specialists, training in this skill should be considered, as it is crucial in clinical practice and has a positive impact on the well-being of those involved. The following systematic review will synthesize and analyze existing epidemiological studies on the importance of training in bad news communication during the postgraduate training period.
