Abstract
In order to look after a critical patient it is required to have an appropriate professional staff specialized in the management of swallowing disorder, speech and language to reestablish the communication, social reintegration and reduce the morbid-mortality percentage.
Making a performance guide and expected professional profile helps to achieve quality standards of care and intervention in patients. In the case of the graduate in the speech therapist who works in the Critical Units of the Güemes Hospital, establishing the training and performance profile, work guidelines, recommendations and specific suggestions in the field of development of the activities, guarantees better competence and therefore results. In the intervention of the PC, the results are expressed by the minimization of risks, prevention of complications and early care intervention.
This profile is a tool that helps to standardize care, promoting evidence-based practices and ensuring that the best approaches to evaluation and speech therapy treatment of CP are applied.
