Abstract
University education in speech-language pathology and its professionalization are products of the transition and evolution of prevailing health models. These developments are reflected in changes to university curricula, the scientific, technical, and technological advancements influencing healthcare, and the need for a paradigm centered on the individual and the community. The consolidation of professional identity, the integration of digital technologies, and the role of soft skills in speech-language pathology practice are highlighted. The importance of higher education, accessibility, and communicative health in the discipline’s evolution is also emphasized.
